We believe AI should be a powerful ally in your creative process - never a replacement for your voice.
AI should never write for you. Your words, your voice, your ideas - that's what makes your work yours. No tool should take that away, and we'll never build one that tries to.
What AI should do is handle the parts that slow you down. Organizing scattered notes into structure. Checking your work for consistency. Summarizing research so you can get back to the page faster. The tedious, mechanical tasks that eat into your creative time.
We build AI features that free you to do more of what only you can do: think, create, and tell your story. Every AI tool in Plotiar is designed to support your process - helping you shape your ideas, not generate them.
Your writing is never used to train AI models by Plotiar, and when AI runs on Plotiar's account, our provider (Amazon Bedrock) does not use it for training either. If you connect your own API key, your agreement with that provider applies, so check its terms. When you use an AI feature, we send only what that request needs to the provider that runs it, and some of it is kept so the features work: the provider may cache a request briefly to make the next one faster, and the results you save stay in your project. Each project has an AI switch: turn it off and nothing from that project is sent. We will never sell your creative work or use it for anything but the features you use. That's a promise, not a policy footnote.
Why We Built Plotiar
Plotiar started the way most tools should: with a real problem. We were writing a book, and every existing option let us down. Google Docs felt like writing on an endless scroll with no sense of structure. Word was bloated and impossible to collaborate in. Notion was great for databases but terrible for actual long-form writing. Scrivener had the right idea but felt stuck in another decade, and charged a premium for the privilege.
None of them solved what we actually needed: a way to organize a multi-chapter, multi-file project where different parts could be written independently, then linked and synced into one cohesive work. We wanted to jot down notes alongside chapters, track what was done and what still needed writing, visualize plot threads, and manage not just a single document but an entire book. All without stitching together five different apps.
After trying every tool we could find, the answer was clear: nothing like this existed. So we built it ourselves. Plotiar is the workspace we wished we'd had from day one, and now it's yours too.
