Why We Built Plotiar
Plotiar started the way most tools should: with a real problem. We were writing a book, and every existing option let us down. Google Docs felt like writing on an endless scroll with no sense of structure. Word was bloated and impossible to collaborate in. Notion was great for databases but terrible for actual long-form writing. Scrivener had the right idea but felt stuck in another decade, and charged a premium for the privilege.
None of them solved what we actually needed: a way to organize a multi-chapter, multi-file project where different parts could be written independently, then linked and synced into one cohesive work. We wanted to jot down notes alongside chapters, track what was done and what still needed writing, visualize plot threads, and manage not just a single document but an entire book. All without stitching together five different apps.
After trying every tool we could find, the answer was clear: nothing like this existed. So we built it ourselves. Plotiar is the workspace we wished we'd had from day one, and now it's yours too.

Every dollar that comes in goes straight back into keeping the servers running and making the app better. That's it. No investors to please, no shareholders to report to. Just a small group of people trying to build something that actually helps writers write.
